the strangest story involving st. louis, MO and germany: baden-wuerttemburg and the staatsgalerie in stuggart are suing a st. louis rare book dealer (another phd dropout! from my alma mater) for a book of prints/drawings from the 16th century. they have hired Thomas Kline, one of the expert lawyers in NS-era art restitution. the book was allegedly stolen by an american soldier, serving as an interpreter. more here.
