back in the day

the lack of sun reminds me of dreaming in black & white and these stills from Berlin. Die Sinfonie der Großstadt.   – Walther Ruttmann

there are so many cafes, bars in my neighborhood that i’ve only seen from the outside. the people on the inside usually look quite cozy and warm, while sipping their milchkaffee. i’ve always lived in a city but never in a neighborhood where there’s so much life right outside my door. where to start? the cold has cut short the getting-to-know-my-neighborhood phase. instead i’m waiting inside where it’s warm for other people to drag me along to their favorite spots. this week i was introduced to rizz, a wood and brick classic, and oetcke, a recently opened cafe on Körtestr., decked out in holiday cheer. i’ve been convinced there’s a better view from the inside looking out. any other suggestions?
